Take full control of your mix design. STUBBE'S Portland Cement is a general-purpose Portland cement (Type GU / Type I) for making your own concrete, mortar, and grout - combine it with sand, stone, and clean water for slabs, footings, sidewalks, repairs, and precast applications. Meets CSA A3001 and ASTM C150. Available in 44 lb (20 kg), 66 lb (30 kg), and 88 lb (40 kg) bags.
General-Purpose Portland Cement for Custom Concrete and Mortar
STUBBE'S Portland Cement is a general-purpose portland cement binder produced to meet CSA A3001 (Type GU) and ASTM C150 (Type I). It is the primary binding ingredient in concrete, mortar, and grout — providing the hydraulic reaction that develops strength when combined with water and aggregates. Available in three bag sizes for jobsite flexibility: 44 lb (20 kg), 66 lb (30 kg), and 88 lb (40 kg).
Use STUBBE'S Portland Cement anywhere a Type GU / Type I cement is specified. Combine it with sand and coarse aggregate to make concrete for slabs, footings, foundations, sidewalks, and steps. Blend it with masonry sand to produce mortar for bricklaying and blockwork. Mix with fine sand for grout applications. It is compatible with common aggregates, supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), and chemical admixtures when used as directed. Suitable for ready-mix batching, precast manufacturing, and on-site mixing by contractors and homeowners.
Note: Portland cement is not a pre-blended concrete or mortar mix. You must add your own sand, aggregate, and water to produce concrete or mortar. For a ready-to-use concrete mix, see STRONGSET™. For a pre-blended masonry cement that only requires sand and water, see STUBBE'S Type N Masonry Cement or STUBBE'S Type S Masonry Cement.
The cement is manufactured from limestone and clay-bearing raw materials, kiln-fired to produce clinker, then ground to a fine powder with a controlled amount of gypsum to regulate setting time. The result is a consistent, general-purpose hydraulic cement suitable for a wide range of construction applications.
Preparation, Mixing & Application
For concrete, a common general-purpose ratio by volume is 1 part cement : 2.5 parts concrete sand : 2.5 parts 3/4" (19 mm) stone. Add only enough clean water to reach a workable, plastic consistency — about 20–23 L (4.5–5 US gal) per 88 lb (40 kg) bag depending on aggregates and target workability. Avoid excess water, which reduces strength and durability. Mix until uniform, place promptly into forms, consolidate to reduce voids, and screed/finish to suit. Maintain mix and substrate temperatures between 40 °F and 86 °F (+5 °C to +30 °C). Protect fresh concrete from freezing for at least 48 hours.
